The Healthy Auburn Blue Ribbon Committee as well as the Auburn Parks and Recreation Board are committed to creating a healthy community. In 2009 the Tobacco-Free Park Policy was initiated to assist recreational organizations and parents in their efforts to recreate in a tobacco-free environment. In July of 2019, staff was requested to develop information related to a potential ban on smoking and vaping in City Parks. This initiative is supported by both the Parks Board and the Blue Ribbon Committee who recognize that the negative effects of first and second hand smoke and discourage tobacco usage at places where youth are gathered and healthy lifestyle activities are available. |
